Aurora Borealis Expected to Be Visible in the UK

Conditions Favorable for Sightings in Scotland and Northern England

AuroraWatch UK and Aurorasaurus Partner to Provide Real-Time Updates

The Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, may be visible by eye from Scotland and by camera from northern England and Scotland this evening. AuroraWatch UK, a free service that offers alerts of when the aurora might be visible from the UK, has issued an alert for tonight, February 27th.

According to AuroraWatch UK, the aurora is expected to be visible from around 9pm to midnight tonight. The best chances of seeing the aurora will be in areas with clear skies and low light pollution. AuroraWatch UK recommends looking towards the northern horizon for the best views.

In addition to AuroraWatch UK, the Aurorasaurus citizen science project is also providing real-time aurora reports. The Aurorasaurus project is a network of cameras that monitor the aurora across the UK. The cameras are located in various locations, including Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
